THURSDAY, December 13, 2018

7:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Bring Supplies into Assembly Hall and Storage Rooms and Inventory Items (Adults Preferred). Volunteers will first bring cases of blankets into facility and bundle blankets. Volunteer then bring items into the main hall and stack neatly according to item signs on the walls. We will then inventory each item.

FRIDAY, December 14, 2018

Noon - 3:00 PM: Prepare Space and Items for Assembly Process (Adults Only). Volunteers will prepare main space for prep work, help bring in final deliveries, perform inventories and begin preparing items for the assembly line. Registration limited to 50.

3:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Prepare Items for Assembly & Card Making (Adults & Families Welcome). Designed for families and kids, volunteers prepare items for the assembly line and make cards for our homeless neighbors to place in each kit. Adults are responsible for supervising kids and youth under their care.

6:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Finish Assembly Prep Work, Set up Assemble Line, Assemble Survival Kits and Card Making (Adults & Families Welcome). Volunteers will complete any remaining tasks for preparing items for assembly line, then help set up the assembly line and begin assembling survival kits and loading them onto trucks. Volunteers can also make cards for the kits. Adults are responsible for supervising kids and youth under their care.

SATURDAY, December 15, 2018

7:30 AM – 8:00 AM: Assembly Line Set Up. Volunteers will take positions at stations along the assembly line, receive instructions on assembly process and replenishing inventory or move completed kits onto vehicles or vehicle loading areas.

8:00 – 11:00 AM: Assemble Survival Kits, Learning Experience Session, Card Making and Sign-up for Kit Distribution (Adults, Children & Families Welcome). Volunteers have several options during his period and volunteers can do any and all: (1) perform different duties for assembling the kits - walk duffel bags along the assemble line, move assembled kits to vehicle loading areas, help replenish inventory, help separate recyclable materials and move recycling to storage area, reclaim reusable TGS boxes; (2) Attend a Learning Experience session about Homeless Youth at 9:00 AM in the main Church building; (3) make cards for the kits in the 2nd courtyard behind registration; and (4) sign up for distributing kits to homeless in need – see Outreach team in Room 121 in courtyard for information.

9:00 AM - 10:00 AM: TGS Learning Experience: “Our Future Cast Adrift: Children Living on Our Streets”. Join us for a moving interactive conversation and panel discussion around the tragic plight of our most precious resources – our children. Featuring the subjects of the powerful documentary, American Street Kids. Moderated by the film’s producer, Michelle Kaufer.

9:00 AM – 11:00 AM – Kit Distribution Information and Signup – Room 121 across from Registration (Adults, Children & Families Welcome). Find out information from TGS Outreach leaders about giving out survival kits to homeless in need – at specific agencies, at specific TGS meeting spots (using your own vehicle or with others), or on your own using your own vehicle or with others. In room 121 across from registration. Recommended for both new volunteers and those with previous experience.

11:00 AM - 1:30 PM: Assemble Survival Kits, Attend Learning Experience, Find Out About Distribution, Give out Kits (Adults & Families Welcome). Volunteers have several options during his period and volunteers can do any and all: (1) perform different duties for assembling the kits - walk duffel bags along the assemble line, move assembled kits to vehicle loading areas, help replenish inventory, help separate recyclable materials and move recycling to storage area, reclaim reusable TGS boxes; (2) Attend a 45-minute Learning Experience session about the value of companion animals for helping homeless survive at 11:05 AM in the main Church building; (3) make cards for the kits in the 2nd courtyard behind registration and (4) sign up to distribute kits to homeless in need – see Outreach team in Room 121 in courtyard for information.

11:05 AM – 11:50 PM TGS Learning Experience: “Compassion on Four Legs. The Powerful Life-Sustaining Love of Homeless Animals.” A riveting and revealing conversation about the thousands of abandoned souls buoyed and supported by the one life that loves them unconditionally. Led by Vince Wong, Michelson Found Animals Foundation.

11:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Distribution of Kits and Outreach, including Drivers’ Meeting, Private Vehicle Loading, Agency visits and Downtown Depot Distribution. (Adults, Youth & Welcome) Volunteers distribute kits during this period by (1) signing up to visit agencies; (2) signing up to distribute from a downtown location; and/or (3) driving their own vehicles. For volunteers driving their own vehicles, there is a mandatory Drivers’ meeting at 11:05 in room 121 prior to loading vehicles. Six-hour time period is the outer limit – commitment to distribute to 5:00 PM is not required.

Noon - 4:00 PM: Finish Assembly, Prepare and Load Items for Storage & Clean Up (Please arrive by 1:00 PM). Volunteers help finish the assembly of kits and then prepare and load surplus items, tools, posters, and other items to be taken to storage. Volunteers also help separate and remove recycling and clean up the facility.

SUNDAY, December 16, 2018

9:30 AM - 3:00 PM:Distribution & Outreach (Adults and Families Welcome). Volunteers give out survival kits. 9:30 to 10:30 AM: Registration, distribution instructions and loading kits into vehicles. 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM: Distribution of kits.

Parking: Free parking is available in the Comerica Bank parking lot, upper level on Friday and Saturday. 12001 San Vicente Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049, off S. Saltair Ave. Please look for signs to direct you. The lot is directly across from Brentwood Presbyterian Church 12000 San Vicente Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90049. Additional parking is also available on Gretna Green Way Friday - Saturday.
