A private not-for-profit organization, INFOLINE of Los Angeles is the largest, most technologically advanced social services information and referral service agency in the nation. Each year, more than 300,000 individuals and families utilize its free, confidential services. Services are provided in English, Spanish and more than 140 other languages via a tele-interpreting service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. INFOLINE also provides services for hearing impaired.

From December 1, 2006 through March 15, 2007, selected community non-profit homeless services providers will provide temporary nightly shelter to homeless persons in Los Angeles County.

Those in need of emergency shelter are encouraged to go directly to one of the listed pick-up points for free transportation, rather than the site address, unless otherwise indicated. Most shelters will open at approximately 5:00 PM.

Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority:

LAHSA is a City-County Joint Powers Authority, an independent unit of local government, formed to address the problems of homelessness on a regional basis.

As an administrative entity, LAHSA contracts with community-based nonprofit agencies to provide homeless services throughout Los Angeles County. LAHSA advocates for the needs of homeless people, plans for and funds homeless services through contracted providers, and ensures effective use of public resources through program and fiscal monitoring of funded programs. LAHSA's Emergency Response Team provides crisis outreach to engage homeless person to accept services. LAHSA collaborates with other regional public agencies that serve homeless people, and with partner advocacy and service organizations to maximize effective use of resources.
